The current Ottawa Senators is the second NHL franchise to use the ‘Senators’ name. The original Ottawa Senators team were founded in 1883 and played until 1934 winning many Stanley Cup® Championships during that time. The League awarded a new franchise to Ottawa in 1990. The Sens played their first game on October 8, 1992​. The date of their first game has been used to create the thread counts (width of lines) within the weave of this original tartan design:10-08-19-92.
